Give & Give Thanks

The season for giving is upon us. While we strive to give back to our community all year round at Certified Radon, the holiday season seems to bring everyone together to help others in need. It really is a magical time! This year we are hosting our 2nd Annual Certified Radon Harvesters Food Drive and invite you to donate and help us stock their pantry shelves.

I was surprised to learn – and you may be too – that 1 in 5 kids in our area go hungry. That’s almost 20% of all children in the region! In addition, 20% of those receiving Harvesters’ assistance are seniors aged 60+. Overall, nearly 378,000 people in our community suffer from hunger. These numbers are staggering and we want to do our part to help ensure no one goes hungry this holiday season.

Harvesters is one of the most respected charities in our area. They are a regional food bank serving 26 counties across northwest Missouri and northeastern Kansas. Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 620 not-for-profit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.

We have employees, vendors, partners and customers stepping up to donate this year. As an extra incentive, we’re offering discounts of $25 discount off radon testing or $100 off installation of a radon mitigation system when customers donate non-perishable food items during November. Cash donations can also be made to Harvesters through our online virtual food drive here.

I am thankful to work with such a giving team, have such caring customers and partners, and to live in a city that rallies together to help each other. Here’s to a very Happy Thanksgiving and bountiful holiday season for all!
